SOHAR — A delegation from the Coega Development Corporation (Pty) Ltd of South Africa, headed by Pepi Silinga, CEO, visited the Port of Sohar yesterday. Coega is the operator of the Coega Industrial Development Zone, which is South Africa"s premier port-based complex for new industrial investments covering 11,000 hectares.
The visitors were received by Jamal Aziz, Deputy CEO, Jaap van Dalen, Executive Commercial Manager, and Robert Boonk, Commercial Officer — all representing Sohar Industrial Port Company — the landlord-operator of the Port of Sohar. Also present was Cornel Moll, Principal Adviser of the Batinah Development Association.
For the Coega team the visit was an opportunity to get acquainted with the development of the Port of Sohar, as well as to interact with SIPC officials. "The Port of Sohar has done exceptionally well and we have taken a lot of lessons from what they have achieved in such a short time," said Pepi Silinga. The group later went on an extensive tour of the port.
