New operator in place at the car terminal

Apr 13, 2011 Port

On April 4, the Swedish logistics company Logent took over operations at the Car Terminal at the Port of Gothenburg. At the same time, the new president Michael Arvidsson took up his position and the name was changed to Logent Gothenburg Car Terminal AB.

Plans are already in place to increase import flows and improve rail links.

"With improved rail links, we will satisfy our customers' needs and create better conditions for the transport industry. At the same time, we will take responsibility for the environment by reducing the volume of road transport," states new president Michael Arvidsson.

When it comes to import flows, Logent can see growth potential.
"We have a firm belief in the future and an advantage for us is that we are a neutral player, which means we can attract different customers. We intend to make use of our excellent network of contacts in the industry and we are already talking to other parties in the chain with the aim of putting together what will be a very interesting offer," states Michael Arvidsson.

The Port of Gothenburg is by far the largest port of export for cars in Sweden. Swedish export successes such as construction machinery, truck chassis and bus chassis are also shipped through the port. Direct routes to other parts of the world make Gothenburg an important gateway for the Swedish automotive industry.
