Port of Ilyichevsk Port reschedule the launch of berths upgrade project

Ukraine-based Port of Ilyichevsk (SCPI, Odessa Region) is implementing jointly with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) the loan project “The Development of Infrastructure of Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk. Due to recent delays in the initial phases of the project the enterprise has appealed to the EBRD with a proposal to postpone the last date of the loan arrangement from December 1, 2010 to May 1, 2014.


According to the state-owned enterprise the Bank has agreed with the SCPI’s terms. Earlier, “the last date” had already been transferred to March 1, 2011.


In line with the project the port plans the reconstruction of Berths Number 7, 8, 9 and acquisition of handling equipment. EBRD’s Credit Facility is estimated at EUR 26 million.


State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk) ranks among Ukraine’s top 4 seaports. The Port of Ilyichevsk encompasses 346 ha, 6km of waterfront with 29 berths. Its handling and warehouse facilities enable import/export freight flows of over 30 million tons a year. In 2010, cargo throughput of the port fell by 7.5% year-over-year, to 15,55m tons.
