Port of Qinzhou handling capacity to hit 5 million TEU by 2015

PORT of Qinzhou's cargo throughput capacity is to reach 120 million tonnes by 2015 with container handling capacity reaching five million TEU by 2015, Xinhua reports.


By 2015, the port's cargo throughput tonnage is expected to hit 80 million tonnes and container volume two million tonnes. The port will strive for a throughput tonnage of 100 million tonnes and container throughput tonnage of 2.5 million TEU by 2015.


The port handled 400,000 TEU last year. Its cargo throughput tonnage totalled to 40 million tonnes.


Last year, Qinzhou city's gross region product grew 16 per cent. Trade value increased by 52 per cent. Export value grew 22 per cent.
