PORT of Portland grew its container volume in the first two months of the year to 32,348 TEU, a 21.2 per cent lift compared to its breakbulk tonnage which saw a decline of 33.8 per cent.
Although exports exceeded import volume at the Oregon harbour, imports grew faster to 15,432 TEU, a 24.8 per cent increase, according to American Shipper. Breakbulk saw an overall tonnage drop of 5.8 per cent with automobiles staying unchanged and grain off 16.7 per cent at 716,865 tons.
