Qinzhou port boxes up 55pc, tonnage beats record in January

SOUTHEAST China's Qinzhou port registered a 45 per cent growth in throughput to 3.44 million tonnes in January, a record monthly high, reports Xinhua.


The port's container movement increased 55 per cent to 42,196 TEU in January.


Qinzhou port, acting as the most convenient gateway linking to the ASEAN, plans to increase capacity of 6.5 million tonnes by 2015 with a total of 108 million tonnes.


Apart from Qinzhou, two other ports' capacity, Fangcheng and Beihai in Guangxi Beibu Gulf, are expected to hit 132 million tonnes and 96 million tonnes respectively by 2015.
