Cargo throughput of Port of Temryuk in January-February 2011 increased by 10.4% compared with the same period of 2010, to 339,200 tons, PortNews reports citing the Temryuk Port Authority.
In the reporting period handling of exports rose by 1.5% to 310,740 tons, imports volume soared by nearly 10 times as much, to 11,380 tons, short sea traffic totaled 17,000 tons. The port handled 84 cargo ships (vs 50 vessels in Jan-Feb, 2010) The bulk of freight volume was handled by Port Mechel – Temryuk LLC.
Temryuk seaport is located on the Taman shore of the Azov Sea. The port maintains and operates its 1200-m-length berths with loading facilities. The port handles primarily general cargoes, round timber, lumber, metal, as well as bulked cargo and food. In 2010, Temryuk port’s throughput fell 7.4% year-over-year to 2,11 million tons.
