UCL Holding buys state stake in NWS

JSC Passenger Port, part of the transport group Universal Cargo Logistics Holding (UCL Holding), has won the auction for state-owned common stock in North-West Shipping JSC, the Holding’s press office said. The 25.5-percent stake was sold for initial price - RUB 934m.


North-Western Shipping Company (NWS JSC) is the successor to the North-West Shipping Company, established in 1923 and incorporated in 1992. JSC NWSC comprises 7 subsidiaries: North-Western Fleet, Passenger Port, Nevsky Shipyard, Voznesensky repair and maintenance facility, dockyards Rechnaya, Snabservis and Volga-Baltic Logistics.


North-Western Shipping Company is the largest operator in Russia’s water transport industry. The shipping company specializes in transportation of general cargo, bulk and grab cargoes, heavy-lift cargo and vessels. NWSC operates a fleet of 145 vessels of 550,000 DWT, including 120 ships of mixed class "river-sea", 4 barges, 12 tugboats and 8 auxiliary vessels. The company’s annual volume of goods transportation is about 6 million tons. The company’s shipping volume accounts for 10% of the Russian market.


NWSC, part of VBTH, is a majority owned shipping asset of UCL Holding. The Dutch-registered Universal Cargo Logistics Holding (UCL Holding) is an international transportation holding comprising stevedoring companies of Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg and Universal Transshipment Complex; Tuapse and Taganrog ports; Volga Shipping, North-West Shipping and Western Shipping companies; a number of shipbuilding, shipping and logistics assets.
