Grand Alliance re-launches JCX after 2009 merger

GRAND ALLIANCE members Hapag-Lloyd, NYK and Hong Kong's OOCL expect to relaunch its Japan-California Express (JCX) service in May two years after it merged with SCX (Southeast Asia-California Express) into a single loop (New SCX).


The return of JCX will increase transit times by dropping ports calls to Japan on the eastbound loop, reports Paris-based Alphaliner. Its port rotation will be Qingdao, Kwangyang, Kobe, Nagoya, Tokyo, Sendai, Los Angeles, Oakland, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe and back to Qingdao.


The New SCX has a port rotation of Singapore, Kobe, Nagoya, Tokyo, Sendai, Los Angeles, Oakland, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe, Kaohsiung, Shenzhen-Shekou, Cai Mep, Laem Chabang and back to Singapore.
