Feb 18, 2011 Port

The guard aboard the SCF’s NS Century tanker (Liberia flagged, operated by Novoship, part of SCF Group) has fended off an alleged attack of Pirate Action Group (PAG) that occurred off the coast of India, PortNews reports citing the shipping company’s press office.

The tanker’s guard spotted suspicious boats approaching the NS Century and fired warning shots. The boats turned around and left the scene.

In May 2010 in the Gulf of Aden a group of Somalia pirates managed to board the Novoship’s tanker Moscow University. The crew barricaded in a citadel. The next day, the Russian warship Marshal Shaposhnikov carried out successful operation and released the tanker and her crew. The sailors were not injured during the operation, one pirate was killed.
