THE United States is lifting the ban on air freight from Yemen entering the US, "according to regulations and specific conditions without any hindrances," reports Yemen News Agency SABA.
The US ambassador to Yemen Gerald Feierstein informed Yemen's Minister of Transport Khalid al-Wazir of the decision during a meeting.
The move was prompted by the findings of a US technical team which recently visited to Yemen to observe the security and safety measures followed at the Sana'a International Airport to "ensure their conformity with international standards and conditions of the UN's International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)," the report said.
The ICAO report said the officials discussed during their meeting the possibility of strengthening cooperation with regards to the training and rehabilitation of staff at Sana'a International Airport.
The US imposed the ban on all air cargo originating from Yemen following the discovery of explosives in two parcels posted from Yemen and addressed to synagogues in Chicago last October.
