UK port snags wind farm manufacturer

Feb 11, 2011 Port

Great Yarmouth port has been successful in snaring a proportion of the UKs alternative energy market since a wind farm foundation manufacturer is to set up shop at the port’s new, deep water outer harbour.

MT Hojgaard is to establish a base Great Yarmouth to facilitate the installation of the foundations for the Lincs Offshore Wind Farm. Operations are scheduled to commence in spring 2011.

The Lincs project is being developed through a joint venture between Centrica, Dong Energy and Siemens Project Ventures. It will consist of up to 75 Siemens turbines capable of generating sufficient power to meet the annual demand of some 200,000 households.
