Hapag-Lloyd's service changes

Hapag-Lloyd has announced that with effect from March, it will alter its coverage from the Mediterranean to the US East Coast through a new cooperation agreement with Maersk Line’s MNX service, Exim News Service reports.


The agreement with UASC’s MINA service would be discontinued as a result.


The new port rotation will be as follows: Algeciras, Malta, Gioia Tauro, Livorno, Genoa, Fos, Valencia, Algeciras, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Algeciras.


From March, the line will also be revising the port rotation of the MGX service, to include a call at Port Everglades eastbound and discontinue calling at Fos and Savannah eastbound.


The new pro forma schedule will read as follows: Cagliari, Livorno, Genoa, Barcelona, Valencia, Savannah, Port Everglades, Veracruz, Altamira, Houston, New Orleans, Port Everglades, Cagliari.


Hapag-Lloyd has also announced that with effect from January 16, it has commenced regular calls at Puerto Chiapas, Mexico on its MXC service. The port was formerly known as Puerto Madero and is located in the southern part of Mexico very close to the Guatemalan border. Puerto Chiapas will increase the line’s coverage at the Pacific coast of Mexico and will provide connectivity via Manzanillo, Mexico with other Hapag-Lloyd services.
