Port tariffs stay unchanged in 2011

Jan 31, 2011 Port

Dirk Claus said "Port and berthing fees will remain unchanged and will not be increased in 2011. This is happening out of regard for our partners and because not all of the effects of the shipping crisis have yet been completely overcome". With this move the Port of Kiel is also making a contribution to expected further cargo growth. The Port of Kiel will not introduce a new tariff structure until January 1st 2012.

The SEEHAFEN KIEL GmbH & Co. KG operates Kiel's commercial port on behalf of the Schleswig-Holstein state capital of Kiel, of which it is a 100% subsidiary. The port boasts a total of three passenger terminals for ferry and cruise ships, all located very close to the city centre at the Ostseekai, Schwedenkai and Norwegenkai. In the cargo sector, Kiel is a hub in trade with Norway and western Sweden as well as with the Baltic states and Russia. Kiel's cargo centre is the Ostuferhafen, where services to the eastern Baltic are concentrated. Along with its international transit function, the port also has an important function as a regional market supplier of commodities like fuels and building materials.
