French ports to resume services

Jan 26, 2011 Port

French ports are expected to return to normal working hours from tomorrow, Portworld reports. Co-ordinated walkouts by crane drivers and dockworkers caused a number of disruptions at French maritime hubs, including leading box port Le Havre, and at Marseille-Fos.

A resolution has not yet been reached, however negotiations between port employers and the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) trade unions continue.

Traffic at the French port Fos-Lavera, the world's third largest oil terminal, was partially blocked today, a port officer said.

The Fos-Lavera oil terminal has blocked for more than a month and contributed to a shortage of fuels across the country.

It is not yet clear whether a fresh round of walkouts are planned for this weekend.
