Bomb squad called to Savannah port freight office

Jan 14, 2011 Port

POLICE in the Port of Savannah evacuated a freight company's office after employees reported a suspicious package, according to the Savannah Morning News.

Vantage Freight Systems employees received a device the size of a pack of chewing gum inside a bubble-wrap-lined envelope on Monday. A note attached to the package said the device was a bomb. Police called in the bomb squad.

Police said the package contained a "volatile substance," and was removed from the scene. The case has been turned over to the FBI and the US Postal Service for investigation.
