2 more screening gates at Kandla Port

Jan 11, 2011 Port

Two more screening gates have been set up at Kandla Port, one at Kutch Salt Junction and the other at K.K. Road, according to Exim News Service.

Kandla Port is an ISPS-certified Port with Level-II security.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) guards have been posted round-the-clock on these gates, the Kandla Port Trust (KPT) said in a release.

The decision to set up additional gates followed suggestions by various security agencies to instal two more screening gates to restrict the entry of unauthorised persons and/or materials inside the Port area. This was required to prevent any untoward incident in the Port premises.

The release warns that the entry of unauthorised persons or materials will face prosecution. Port users having establishments inside the Port area, should issue proper documents or authorisation letters to the trucks carrying materials for construction/maintenance, etc.

KPT is always in the forefront to enhance its security and safety in the larger interest of the public and the Port in particular. The latest steps would bring increased security to the Port, said Mr P. D. Vaghela, Chairman of KPT.
