Throughput of Commercial Port of Vladivostok up 66% to 2.1 million tonnes in Jan-Apr, 08

In January-April, 2008, Commercial Port of Vladivostok OJSC handled 2.111.2 million tonnes of cargo (+66%, year-on-year), the company informs. In the reported period, the company’s container throughput amounted to 78,040 TEU, (+36%, year-on-year), transshipment of import automobiles and specialized equipment totaled 82,012 units (+6.5%).

Tran of export cargo totaled 1.227.1 million tonnes (up over 2-fold) including 878,700 tonnes of metal and hard components (up over 3-fold due to growth of demand for Russian steel blank in South-East Asia). In January-April, 2008, export of containers grew by 44% to 30,513 TEU.

Transshipment of import cargo amounted to 526,700 tonnes (+24%, year-on-year) including 25,616 TEU (+31%). Transshipment of coastal trade cargo totaled 357,400 tonnes (+34%, year-on-year) including 21,911 TEU (+30%) and 136,300 tonnes of oil products (up 1.5 times). In the4-month period of 2008, Commercial Port of Vladivostok handled 1,117 vessels and 28,060 wagons.
