May 14, 2008 Port

The port authorities of European ports Le Havre and Duisburg have wrapped up a cooperation agreement that is mainly intended to boost cargo volumes and strengthen cargo exchange between the two ports by setting up a port contact group.

The agreement was signed by Erich Staake, chief executive officer of the Duisport group, and Jean-Marc Lacave, executive director of the Port Authority of Le Havre.

The cooperation accord calls for the exchange of information on new developments in port and cargo handling technology as well as recent trends in worldwide traffic.

Mr Staake added in a Duisport statement, We have already defined plans for the movement of new cargo by combined road/rail transportation from Le Havre via Duisburg to European hinterland destinations.
