Fujian sea port box volume up 21.5 per cent in first 11 months

SEA ports of southeastern China's Fujian province lifted 7.9 million TEU of containers during the period from January to November, up 21.5 per cent compared to the same period last year, meeting the annual target ahead of schedule, Xinhua reported.

Port of Fuzhou's box volume increased 21.4 per cent to 1.35 million TEU, port of Meizhouwan's up 10.9 per cent to 1.26 million TEU, port of Xiamen's up 24.4 per cent to 5.28 million TEU.

Throughput tonnage of these ports increased 5.7 per cent to 296 million tonnes, 95.5 per cent of the annual target. Fuzhou port accounted for 77.6 million tonnes, down 10.5 per cent. Meizhouwan port's throughput rose 9.1 per cent to 92.7 million tonnes. Port of Xiamen's throughput grew 16.1 per cent to 126 million tonnes.
