MAFI Brazil, which was awarded the contract to supply five terminal tractors to the Multirio container terminal in the Port of Rio de Janeiro earlier this year, has now completed delivery of the equipment.
The terminal tractor MT25/30YT has been specifically designed to handle all types of container frames including the multi-trailer system. According to Claudio Camargo Penteado, MAFI Brazil’s operations manager, the MT25/30YT is ideally suited for ports and terminal work and its robust build and advanced mechanical structure will provide "prolonged smooth operations" which in turn will ensure better efficiency and less expense in Multirio’s operations.
Acquisition of the tractors is part of an extensive modernisation process to upgrade the terminal to internationally acceptable standards.
