Shanghai: Port of Qingdao's container throughput for the year passed 10m teu in early November and the port now predicts its will reach 12m teu for the year, which would be a 20% year-on-year increase, reports Xinhua news agency.
Qingdao is the seventh largest port in the world. It recorded total throughput of 300m tonnes last year - much of it oil and iron ore imports - representing a 5.6% increase over 2008, while container volumes of 10m teu were up 2.4%.
