Ningbo box volume up record 31pc to 11.2 million TEU

EASTERN China's port of Ningbo handled 11.2 million TEU from January to October, up 31 per cent year on year, setting a new record, Xinhua reported.

By the end of October, there have been 229 shipping routes that include Ningbo, more than last year's 216. One hundred twenty-four of them are ocean shipping lines, 53 are near-sea lines, 20 are feeder lines and 32 are domestic trade lanes.

Xinhua also reported the port's laden container export monthly volume went beyond 400,000 TEU since May. Ningbo Port Group's sea-rail intermodal business recorded a volume of 2,542 TEU in October and a total of 20,939 TEU for the first 10 months of the year.
