OAKLAND's Matson Navigation Company has announced the appointment of Vic Angoco as senior vice president of the country.
Announcing the appointment at the board meeting Matson president Matt Cox, said: "This promotion is in recognition of the consistently strong performance Vic has delivered for the company in a number of challenging assignments."
"In particular, as head of Matson's Pacific division, Vic has a key role in overseeing all aspects of Matson's core market, Hawaii, as well as the growing Guam trade. He also serves as executive vice president of the Matson subsidiary, Matson Terminals, Inc," Mr Cox said.
Born in Guam, Mr Angoco has held a wide range of operations and sales management positions. He joined Matson in 1996 as manager, operations, Guam, and soon after was promoted to manager, sales-customer service. As part of a management development programme, he transferred to San Francisco in 2001 and was promoted to manager, national accounts and eastern area sales. In 2002, he was promoted again to manager, container operations and transferred to Honolulu.
In 2004, he joined Young Brothers Hawaiian Tug & Barge as vice president, sales and marketing and was promoted to vice president and general manager in 2005. In 2006, he was promoted to senior vice president. He returned to Matson later that year as country manager, Guam.
Before joining Matson, Mr Angoco worked for American President Lines (APL) for four years as manager, operations, Guam, and worked for Sea-Land Services in Guam from 1990 to 1992 as operations manager. He has a BSc in business management from Oregon State University.
