Nov 3, 2010 Port

International Container Terminal Services, Inc (ICTSI) has appointed Jan Nowak as chief executive officer and general manager of the Batumi International Container Terminal in Georgia, reported the Manila Bulletin.

Nowak replaces Frank Carter, who left BICT last 30 September.
Nowak joined ICTSI in 2006 as terminal manager of Baltic Container Terminal (BCT), an ICTSI subsidiary in Gdynia, Poland. He was later promoted to chief operating officer and vice-president.

Before BCT, he was operations manager in a terminal operated by Operaciones Portuarias Canarias SA in Las Palmas, Spain. He worked for OPSCA from 2003 to 2005. He was a mariner for 16 years, starting as a junior deck officer for various containerships in 1988, and went to become chief mate in 1995.

ICTSI acquired a concession to operate container, dry cargo and ferry handling facilities in Batumi in September 2007.
