Fujian quarterly provincial box volume up 23.7pc

SOUTHEAST Fujian province registered a 23.7 per cent growth in container throughput to 6.4 million TEU in the first three quarters, reaching 83.1 per cent of its annual objective, reports Xinhua.


The Fuzhou city's port handled 1.1 million TEU with a 23.2 per cent year-on-year increase, while Meizhouwan port hit 1.01 million TEU, up 13.4 per cent, Xiamen port was up 26.5 per cent year on year to 4.28 million TEU while Fuzhou's new port area attained a 31.9 per cent increase to 486,000 TEU.


The total port throughput grew 2.4 per cent to 237 million tonnes in the first nine months. Fuzhou port moved 60.6 million tonnes, down 18.1 per cent, while Meizhouwan port, 76.3 million tonnes, up 8.4 per cent, and Xiamen port, 100.4 million tonnes, up 15 per cent.


Provincial truck volume increased 19.4 per cent to 341 million tonnes in the first three quarters.
