SOFTWARE from Zebra Enterprise Solutions, a division of Zebra Technologies, of Lincolnshire, Illinois, has announced that the Port of Port of Spain (PPOS), Trinidad, will adopt its terminal operating system, the Navis SPARCS N4, to upgrade productivity.

The port is located in Port of Spain, Trinidad's capital and is the largest container port in the country, said the company statement.

Now at 400,000 TEU a year, the port authority expects growth to 500,000 TEU over five years "Without Navis, it would be very difficult to achieve our anticipated growth and increase efficiency," said PPOS chief operating officer Trudy Gill-Conlon.

The Navis SPARCS N4 operating system is software offering real-time graphical planning and control of container terminals, allowing for advanced optimisation, increased yard utilisation and reduced labour and equipment costs.

Web-based, the software system governs the movement of container logistics and operations, and enables greater control over resources for operations to quickly and intelligently respond to changes in the flow of cargo.

"Navis SPARCS N4 is the system that will take PPOS to the next level to support its anticipated growth," said Zebra Enterprise Solutions manager Bill Walsh.
