Long Beach port's container throughput in Jan-Sept is up 23.5%, to 4.57m TEUs

Container trade of port of Long Beach (USA) in January-September 2010 rose by 23.5% from the same period of 2009, to 4,568,000 TEUs, the Port Authority statistics said.


In September, the volume of handled containers totaled 574,790 TEUs, a 30.5-percent rise from last year’s number.


Port of Long Beach is one of the largest seaports of the United States.


Annual volume of trade flows passing via the port make Long Beach the second-busiest seaport in the U.S. Last year’s container throughput reached over 5 million TEUs.


The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach form together the U.S. port complex, one of the world’s biggest hub.
