Russia's First Container volume up 28.7pc January-September

ST PETERBURG's First Container Terminal volume increased 28.7 per cent to 848,226 TEU year on year between January and September, according to Russian Transport Daily Report.

Container throughput totalled 107,307 TEU in the period, which was 28.1 per cent up on the same period of 2009. Exports totalled 50,496 TEU in September while imports stood at 56,811 TEU. Reefer handling totalled 10,996 TEU.

In September 2010, the terminal handled 78 vessels, average turnaround of one vessel is 1,376 TEU, said the report.
