Manzhouli vegetable exports to Russia surpass 500 tonnes daily

MANZHOULI, the largest overland customs checkpoint in China, on the Inner Mongolian border, recorded a vegetable export volume to Russia of 123,000 tonnes from January to August, up 25.1 per cent year on year, which is 511 tonnes per day, Xinhua reported.


Value of these vegetable products increased 7.7 per cent to US$20.67 million.


Manzhouli started exporting vegetable to Russian in the 1990s and has now become one of the checkpoints handling the most produce.


These vegetable mainly comes from Heilongjiang province, Shandong province and Inner Mongolia.


In 2008, the world economic crisis resulted in decrease of orders and export volume of vegetable in Manzhouli. The situation didn't turn for the better until 2010 and the customs checkpoint recorded the first increase since downturn in April.
