Aug 30, 2010 Port

GUANGXI, an autonomous region in southern China, has invested CNY23.3 billion (US$3.43 billion) in transport infrastructure in the first seven months, reported Xinhua.

Investment in highway construction came to CNY9.64 billion from January to July in its 2010's CNY28.7 billion construction budget that covers 17 highway extension routes of 1,927 kilometres.

In waterborne freight infrastructure projects, Guangxi has spent CNY2.54 billion in upgrading its coastal facilities and CNY1.38 billion in port and inland riverside construction. These also include two route extensions for 200,000-tonne vessels in Fangchenggang and 300,000-tonnes ships in Qinzhou. Both are the key projects in the Beibu Gulf (also known as the Gulf of Tonkin) enhancement project.
