MAINE's International Marine Terminal has been selected as one of eight projects to be eligible for US Department of Transportation subsidies under the Marine Highway Programme.
The tug-and-barge operation from Portland to Boston and New York-New Jersey has received a designation that makes it eligible for funding, reports the Associated Press, adding that the Maine Port Authority plans to deploy a new vessel on the loop soon.
The feeder service started in 1995, but has maintained a regular schedule since 2007, said the report.
