Jaxport container traffic up 10pc in first half

FLORIDA's Jaxport, handled 10 per cent more containers year on year during the first six months of the year, reports the Jacksonville Business Journal.


This amounted to 54,000 more containers this year than last with 605,000 containers were handled by the port in the first half, said the report.


Car movements through the Port of Jacksonville were up 20 per cent, or 67,300 vehicles in the same period totalling 389,000 vehicles. Overall tonnage through the port in the first half of this year was eight per cent higher than in the same period last year.
