TAMPA Port has completed reconstruction of the port's Berth 230 within the REK petroleum complex following support from US Economic Development Administration Recovery Act fund that will enhance petroleum-related cargo flow into the port.
The port was given a partial funding, totalling US$2.2 million, from the EDA Recovery Act, towards reconstruction which facilitates the importation of 40 per cent of all petroleum products that include jet fuel for Orlando International Airport said a port authority statement.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony the port's director and chief executive Richard Wainio joined US Department of Commerce's John Fernandez on behalf of EDA who both spoke of the projects success and detailing the port's many business lines and economic impact on west-central Florida economy, responsible for nearly 100,000 jobs and $8 billion in annual economic impact.
