Shandong port throughput up 19.3pc in the first half

PORTS in East China's Shandong province posted a 19.3 per cent increase in throughput to 420 million tonnes in the first half of year, reports Xinhua.


Throughput exceeded the total volume of 2005. The container throughput grew 10.4 per cent to 7.14 million TEU while the foreign trade volume increased 24 per cent to 250 million tonnes in the first half of year.


The throughput in June even hit a record high to 76.3 million tonnes with a 20.5 per cent growth year on year. Container movement grew 13 per cent to 1.29 million TEU while foreign trade cargo throughput increased 13.8 per cent to 41.6 million tonnes.
