Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd (Hactl) handled 256,838 metric tones of air cargo in July, 27.7 percent more than in the same month last year because of the global economic recovery.
The company, which handles about 80 percent of the air cargo that passes through Hong Kong International Airport, said it handled 1.65 million tonnes of cargo in the January-July period, up 36.7 percent, reported Dow Jones Newswires.
It handled 140,030 tonnes of cargo exports in July, up 35.5 percent, and 67,952 tonnes of cargo imports, up 22.5 percent. Its transhipment volume rose 15.3 percent to 48,856 tonnes.
Hactl is jointly owned by Jardine Matheson & Co, Wharf (Holdings) Ltd, Hutchison International Port Holdings and China National Aviation Corp.
