Marseilles Fos port first half volume up 17pc to 510,819 TEU

THE Port of Marseilles-Fos first half container volume increased 17 per cent to 510,819 TEU, making it likely it would hit the one million TEU mark by the end of the year.

Volume at the Fos terminal increased 12 per cent to 375,203 TEU in the first half while intra-Mediterranean volume rose 36 per cent to 135,616 TEU though that growth was somewhat helped by low volumes in early 2009 caused by frequent strikes at the intra-Med terminal.
