Manzhouli checkpoint half-year trade volume up 17.6pc

MANZHOULI customs checkpoint, the largest on the Sino-Russian border, recorded a trade cargo handling volume of 12.6 million tonnes during the first half of year, an increase of 17.6 per cent over the same period last year, Xinhua reported.


As Sino-Russian trade begins to recover, the customs checkpoint saw a surge of 86.3 per cent in its export volume to 806,000 tonnes.


As for imported cargo, crude oil increased 1.4 per cent to 4.5 million tonnes. Lumber movement increased 7.8 per cent to 4.4 million cubic metres. Fertiliser soared 161 per cent to 311,000 tonnes. Ores grew 2.4 per cent to 1.1 million tonnes.
