Hashish smuggler busted in the port of Almeria

THE Guardia Civil have uncovered a large quantity of drugs attached to the body of a man who disembarked from a ship in the port of Almeria.

Agents from the Guardia thought the man was behaving suspiciously as he looked nervous, was sweating excessively and was wearing very baggy clothing, as he passed through passport control with other passengers who had disembarked from the ship, the ‘Berkane’ from Nador in Morocco.

On searching the 31-year-old citizen of El Ejido, the Guardia Civil found a large amount of hashish, taped to his legs and waist, hidden underneath his clothing.

The drugs were taken to be analysed and evaluated by narcotic specialists in the port of Almeria where they were weighed at 400 grams.

The offender has been detained in the Court of Almeria where he awaits trial.
