CARGO at Florida's Tampa International Airport (TIA) remains robust during May and April but passenger figures still depressed by 2.1 per cent and 3.1 per cent year on year.
Outbound cargo reached 6.85 million pounds, an increase of 3.9 per cent in May and 8.6 per cent in April to 6.92 million pounds compared to first quarter declines at St Petersburg-Clearwater, Fort Myers and Jacksonville compared to same period 2009.
IATA reports of international growth in flights in May of one per cent above pre-recession levels were reflected in first quarter growth at Sarasota-Bradenton, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Miami reported the Tampa Tribune.
Orlando International Airport in May reported a 1.9 per cent gain in passenger traffic to 2.9 million passengers year on year much helped by Walt Disney World which is likely to grow further with its high speed rail planned much sought by TIA.
