CP and DP World Vancouver sign productivity agreement

Jun 28, 2010 Port

THE Canadian Pacific Railway and Dubai-based terminal operator DP World Vancouver have announced signing a productivity and performance agreement that will apply to Canada's west coast ports.

"This agreement outlines a number of goals and specific actions such that all stakeholders in the supply chain can have measurable accountabilities," said DP World Vancouver CEO Matt Hoag. "Over time we can measure performance changes, characterise best practices, and work cooperatively toward growth."

Said CP president and CEO Fred Green: "This agreement will increase the efficiency and reliability of this major supply chain. Between 2001 and 2008 collaboration between terminal operators and CP has led to a 229 per cent increase in loaded import containers through Canada's Asia-Pacific Gateway terminals in Vancouver."

Under the scheme, DP World Vancouver and CP will coordinate identification of available tools and processes for productivity improvements for railways, terminals, and shipping lines. This will include improved information systems that enhance the visibility and predictability of customer supply and demand.
