Five-month cargo turnover at ASCP up 34,7% to 677.400 tons
Freight volume handled by Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port (ASCP JSC) in five recent months rose by 34.7% compared with the same period in 2009 to 677.400 tons, the stevedore press office said.
In Jan-May the stevedoring company transshipped 27.800 tons of cargo (not carried by sea), a 1.85 times growth over the same period a year earlier. Five-month volume of exports amounted to 234,000 tons (an increase of 2.64 times compared with that of 2009), imports - 254.200 tons (+21.28%), short sea trade totaled 161 400 tons (+14.69%).
Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port JSC is a diversified stevedoring company operating at the Port of Arkhangelsk. The stevedore specializes in handling of general cargoes, cellulose, cardboard, containers, lumber, metals, fertilizers, heavy-lift equipment and bulked cargoes. The total capacity of Arkhangelsk port allows handling up to 4.5 million tons of cargo a year. Last year’s throughput of Arkhangelsk Port shrank by 23.7%, to 1.345.9 tons of cargo.
