Shanghai, Chongqing customs explore multimodal co-operation

CUSTOMS at Shanghai and Chonqing have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop closer collaboration in promoting multimodal transport such as sea-river, sea-rail, sea-road and air intermodal services.

The two parties also agree to improve and further simplify clearance operations for transshipments, Xinhua reported.

According to the agreement, the two customs officers will cooperate in offering different level of simplified services to different categories of shippers based on their creditability, and on building up more efficient clearance supervision system to help shippers lower cost.
