The new Gateway Facilities ULC cargo facility, jointly run by HSIA, is already accepting 767 freighters weekly with cargo lifts of Nova Scotia seafood to Belgium with a view to bringing in fresh produce from California and returning seafood said facility business partner Steven Christiansen.

In a report from the Halifax Chronicle Herald, president and CEO of the HSIA authority Tom Ruth spoke of its ability to fill a gap in the Atlantic regional supply chain and drive the market for high value goods forecast to double in 15 years. "This facility is unique on the eastern seaboard as it provides international carriers with refrigerated air cargo space adjacent to [the loading area]," he said.

The facility adjacent to Highway 102 is able to take large commercial air freighters with carriers FedEx Express, Worldwide Perishables and WestJet operating from the space.
