DP World Aden has received six new rubber-tyre gantry (RTG) cranes to take to 12 the number of new cranes that have been delivered to Aden this year, with two giant quay cranes ordered for delivery in the second half of next year.

In line with DP World's commitment to training and development of its people, more than 20 local Yemeni crane operators have received training to handle the equipment and a further 20 mechanics and electricians have attended training seminars to prepare to maintain the cranes.

DP World has also installed sophisticated IT port management systems, developed in-house, to further increase efficiency, conducting on-site training as part of the roll out.

Senior vice president and managing director, DP World, Middle East region, Capt Faisal Al Qahtani said: "We are committed to investing in the safety and security of the terminal and our people, IT, equipment and human resources to make sure our customers have the best possible service."
