500 TEU for Zimbabwe


A Chinese ship “An Yue Jiang” with arms for Zimbabwe called at the Durban port. There are 500 containers with arms on the board of the ship, Euronews reports.


According to SeaNews’ data, the ship named “An Yue Jiang” owned by COSCO.


Workers of the Durban container terminal, members of Satawu (enters COSATU) refused to unload the ship.


They were supported by ITF. Due to the declaration, approved by ITF, the members of organization will not unload the Chinese ship.


As ITF reports, today the members of organization has met with management of the port to discussed the situation. It was said that no one car carrier will transport arms to a capital of Zimbabwe - Harare.


The members of ITF and Satawu said that the vessel have to return to China and the political instability in Zimbabwe must be solved peacefully.
