US Navy crane can transfer cargo at sea

Jun 3, 2010 Port

The US Navy completed at-sea testing of an experimental crane, which moved 128 containers from one ship to another with waves of up to a meter in height, Investor’s Business Daily reported.

The Large Vessel Interface Lift on/Lift off crane is designed to transfer containers, military vehicles and other heavy loads from logistics ships to amphibious ships heading to the shore, eliminating the need for a deepwater port.
