A Customs terminal opens at Rostov universal port

Azov-Don Development Company LLC (part of Azov-Don Shipping Company Group) has completed the first phase of construction of the customs and logistics terminal (CLT) at the Universal Port of Rostov. Currently, the Customs Control office and Temporary Storage Warehouse (TSW) are open. TSW’s capacity is 30 trucks loads, the press-service of the Group reports. The project includes construction of the terminal facilities spread on 12 ha, two TSW and a indoor warehouse, customs control point and Excise Customs.

The project will be implemented in three phases. The first phase, started last year, has been completed. The second one, the Customs and Excise indoor warehouse facility, will be completed by December 2010.

"The opening of the Customs Terminal at the port will allow attracting more volumes of imports, exports and containers,” Constantine Shvalev, the Director General of Azov-Don Development Company was quoted as saying. "The Customs office and TSW will provide an opportunity to process and store the goods at the port, reducing for freight owner the time and cost of cargo delivery at the customs control zone (CCZ) and the goods storage at remote depots" Mr. Shvalev said.

The CT project’s 3rd phase includes construction of a containerized cargo warehouse. Its design begins this year, the construction to be completed in 2012.

Total project cost is estimated at 250m rubles. The Azov-Don Development Company is the CLT’s contractor implementing the project.

Port Rostov, the multimodal transport and logistics hub (part of Azov-Don Shipping Company Group) is located at the intersection of transportation corridors of ‘North-South’, ‘East-West’ as part of a large European Transport Ring. The port’s facilities have being built in the Zarechnaya Industrial Zone in Rostov-on-Don since 2006. The project worth 19.9bl rubles is implemented by the Azov-Don Shipping Company on the basis of public-private partnership. It is included in the federal target program (FTP) "Development of Transport System of Russia 2010-2015". Of the total sum six billion rubles were allocated in the federal and regional budgets for the project. The port facilities completion is scheduled for 2015. In 2016 the port’s infrastructure will gain to its full capacity - 16 million tons of cargo annually.

Azov-Don Development Company LLC (ADDC) is part of the group of companies Azov-Don Shipping Company. ADDC LLC was established in 2005 for the implementation and management of assets of state-run Azov-Don Shipping Company in real estate and construction. The company has been currently carrying out such projects as the construction of CLT at Rostov Port, construction of StaroCherkasskaya Riviera village and other development projects in the Rostov region.
