Indian construction firm to build shipyard north of Chennai

India's largest private construction firm has agreed to a deal with the Tamil Nadu government to build a shipyard and port north of Chennai, the Hindu Business Line reported Thursday.

The shipyard would be developed to construct very large crude carriers, as well as liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas ships. The construction company, Larsen & Toubro, also has a shipyard in Hazira, in the state of Gujarat.
