Sri Lanka port buys cranes from China

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has signed an agreement with ZPMC of China to purchase cranes for operations at the Jaya Container Terminal (JCT), reported Sri Lanka’s Daily News.

The deal involves the purchase of three gantry cranes and 24 mobile cranes at a cost of US$62.94 million.

The new gantries would be of greater capacity than the ones in operation at present and are also higher in operational efficiency as well as technology.
